Over 150 at the Triad Christmas Party!

The Triad Area Holiday Party on December 2nd was hosted at Grandover Spa and Resort and sponsored by Porsche Greensboro. We all had great food, drink and socialized. Matt Davis, Sales Manager at Porsche Greensboro welcomed us and gave thanks for a great year.

This year’s program was about reflecting on the charities we support. In 2025, PCA members raised a total of $14,974.42 in charitable contributions. I want to personally thank you for all that gracious amount. These contributions along with Porsche Greensboro’s charitable donations have raised a grand total of $17,974.42.

CAMP HANES YMCA

In June of 1927, Harry Long brought a small group of young boys from Winston-Salem to the all-new John W. Hanes Memorial YMCA camp to experience the great outdoors. Nearly a century later, more than 15,000 participants annually come to YMCA Camp Hanes to experience the great outdoors, make lifelong friends, and create lasting memories at the “500 Acre Memory Maker” Camp Hanes YMCA.

DuValle Elliott, Vice President of Major Gifts of Camp Hanes YMCA spoke to us about their camp program and thanked us for our support. In 2025, Robert Van Camp organized the Roads and Rails event through the Shenandoah Valley to raise donations to benefit Camp Hanes YMCA. Carolinas PCA members along with a dealer sponsorship raised a total of $9,000 to donate to Camp Hanes YMCA located in King, NC. These donations helped young people who would have otherwise not been able, attend camp. Camp Hanes is committed to ensuring every experience is helping campers be their best selves. They do this through developing achievement, belonging and building relationships. Camp Hanes values of honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, and faith - help guide them.

Robert has already set up next year’s event for June 19-21. Please book before May 31st to get the rate. Register at the following link.

RACING FOR HEROES

In 2025, Dixon Johnson along with our PCA members, raised$3,800 through multiple Lunch and Laps drives to VIR, and a Drive and Dine event to benefit Racing for Heroes. Thank you Dixon for organizing these events. Our donation will support alternative therapies in the treatment of PTSD for veterans. These alternative therapies include yoga, oxygen therapy, dance, scuba diving, and others. Mike gave Dixon and I a tour of RFH’s facilities in November and showed us the new Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT) and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) equipment used to treat PTSD.

For 2026, Dixon has already scheduled full course Lunch and Laps events at VIR on May 9th, July 25th, and September 24th. He is also tentatively arranged a Chateau Morrisette drive on October 10th.

AMERICAN CHILDREN’S HOME

In 2025, the Carolinas PCA members and Porsche Greensboro sponsorship raised $2,550 to donate to American Children’s Home located in Lexington, NC. Every year the ACH has an annual “Show Off Car Show”. At last year’s 27th annual show, they hosted over 290 cars. Every year, PCA hosts a Porsche Corral to raise donations to support ACH. Porsche Greensboro also brings a couple new Porsches for the public to view. American Children’s Home was established in 1925 by the Junior Order United American Mechanics National Council. It initially served orphaned children of Junior Order members. However, as time passed there were fewer true orphans and the home began accepting children through county Departments of Social Services. ACH provides a nurturing environment, and is a licensed and COA accredited, nonprofit providing residential cottages and family foster homes from birth to age 21. With a capacity of 50, their six cottages are home to children from a few days to a few years. Regina Keener, President and CEO gave us an overview and thanked us for our support.

GREENSBORO URBAN MINISTRY

During the Triad Area Holiday Party, we raised $1,920.00 in monetary donations along with an additional $704.42 from our 50/50 pot to donate a total of $2,624.42 to Greensboro
Urban Ministry. Greensboro Urban Ministry provides opportunities for housing solutions, safe shelter, food, and support services year-round for residents of the greater Greensboro community. Their mission is to express the love of God to our neighbors in need by offering food, shelter, and solutions. Their vision is to provide stable lives for our neighbors. The Greensboro Urban Ministry was founded in 1967, and is a non-profit organization serving Guilford County, North Carolina. In North Carolina, over 15% of the population doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from. Greensboro Urban Ministry offers free meals daily and gives out emergency groceries four days a week. The Potter’s House Community Kitchen provides a hot, nutritious lunch every day, including holidays. In addition to the community lunch, Potter’s house also provides breakfast and dinner to guests staying in the Weaver House shelter. We welcome anyone who needs a meal, regardless of the person’s circumstances.

The Greensboro Urban Ministry Food Pantry has provided food for people at risk of hunger in Guilford County for over 30 years. Community food drives throughout the year help stock the shelves. The pantry supports low-income individuals’ nutritional needs by providing wholesome food to supplement their diet while helping to stretch their food dollars.

A variety of services are available to single adults or families experiencing a housing crisis. Weaver House provides emergency shelter to single men and women. During winter months, more beds are provided to keep people out of the frigid cold through partnerships with other agencies. The Pathways Center provides temporary shelter to families. ach family has a private living space, which includes eds, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. Families staying at Pathways share a lounge, TV room, computer lab, laundry room, meditation room, and outdoor playground.

Matt Davis and I met with Brian Hahne, Chief Executive Officer of Greensboro Urban Ministry and presented a donation check on December 15th at Porsche Greensboro.

We ended the night with a surprise giveaway of a bag of coveted Cinnamon Sweet Buc-ees Beaver nuggets that were smuggled in from Florence, South Carolina earlier that day.

Sarah and I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

Happy New Year!
