Triad Area August Update!

On July 21st, the Triad Area held its meeting at Little Richards BBQ in Winston-Salem. We had 50 members attend. After welcoming everyone, we started the meeting and recognized a new PCA member, Marc McGarry.

TJ updated the membership status and announced PCA member anniversaries.

We celebrated the following July birthdays.

Tim Robertson & Eric Schultz

Rick Huskins stepped up in Jerry’s absence and serenaded our guests’ birthdays. I think Jerry may have some serious competition.

YMCA Camp Haynes Staff members, Donna Rogers, Interim CEO, Amanda Hurley, Senior Vice President, Nicholas Patton, Executive Director, Val DuValle W. Elliott, Jr., Vice President of Major Gifts and Planned Giving (Heritage Club) joined our meeting to accept a $10,000 donation.

This donation was raised from the recent Roads and Rails event along with Porsche Greensboro sponsorship that was organized by Robert VanCamp. Thank you to everyone who donated and attended the Roads and Rails event to support this great cause. YMCA Camp Hanes is located in King, NC. These donations help young people who would have otherwise not been able, attend camp. YMCA Camp Hanes is committed to ensuring every experience is helping campers be their best selves. They do this through developing achievement, belonging and building relationships. YMCA Camp Hanes values of honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, and faith - help guide them.

Aaron Sorgius, fellow PCA member discussed he was only a few subscribers away from a milestone of 49,000 followers on his YouTube channel, Help Me DIY. Please take a look at his content and consider subscribing to his YouTube channel which are detailed step-by-step DIY tutorials from maintenance to optional mods to help your car look and function its best.

We gave away a few door prizes and held the charity raffle. Thank you to all who donated to the charity raffle, we raised $170.00.

On Saturday, July 18, the Triad Area hit the road for a rendezvous with the triangle area at Red Oak Brewery in  Whitsett, North Carolina. The weather was nice and sunny for eight cars and 15 participants to take the long way and enjoy the ride.

We left from Porsche Greensboro, who graciously provided pastries to fuel the drivers, on scenic roads south through Asheboro and back up with a nice mix of curves and backcountry driving. Once arriving at the brewery, all the members parked in a reserved lot for PCA.We then enjoyed the fellowship, beers, and brats inside the beautiful beer hall.

As a reminder, I am resigning from my position as Triad Area PCA Area Director, effective December 31st, 2026. Sarah and I are truly grateful to have had the opportunity to serve and contribute to PCA.

PCA Carolina’s Region President, Jim Hess and I are still looking for a volunteer to take over this role. Please reach out to Jim or myself if you have interest. I am happy to assist in any way to ensure a smooth transition.
