May Triad Area Update

On April 14th, the Triad Area had its April meeting at Porsche Greensboro. We had 66 members attend. Porsche Greensboro supplied a delicious dinner from Salsaritas restaurant. Special appreciation to Calvin Nikolas and John Ridge for setting up the tables, chairs and setting up the meal for us. Matt Davis, Sales Manager of Porsche Greensboro welcomed our group and spoke a bit about the pending acquisition of Porsche Greensboro by Rick Hendrick.

We also wish to thank Carolinas Region President, Jim Hess and Nelly for attending our meeting. Next, we recognized and welcomed new PCA members, Kevin Preston and Chip Howell.

TJ Gottwalt, Area Membership Ambassador, updated us on the Triad Area membership status and anniversaries. Next, we celebrated the following April birthdays:

Mike Sveda

Elaine Huskins

Margie Gottwalt

Stan Simm

Bill Dolf

The lucky birthday individuals were once again serenaded by Jerry Kilcrease’s golden pipes.

We then had our Door prize giveaway and last month’s new member Mike Sveda won the 50/50 prize of $255. Thank you to all who participated in the 50/50 charity drawing. $510 was the largest pot of the year to date.

May 9th, Saturday, 9:15AM Lunch and Laps @ VIR

Meet at Porsche Greensboro

Join PCA members on our Fifth Year of Laps & Lunch! Enjoy 20-30 minutes of track time on VIR’s main course and an excellent meal while you support Racing for Heroes...a charity dedicated to helping veterans with PTSD and other post service problems.

Here is the Plan: Meet at Porsche of Greensboro by 9:00 AM, coffee & a brief meeting

We will leave by 9:30 for the drive to VIR and proceed to the Skid Pad. (Those who prefer can go directly to VIR. Please arrive by 11:00.) 11:50 brief meeting on skid pad and leave for the false grid.

By 12:05 we enter the track for 20-30 minutes of time. After we get the checkered flag, proceed to the “Barn” for a hot lunch.

Notes: On the track we will drive at “highway speed” so no helmets are required. This is to support a very worthy charity so additional contributions are appreciated (please make your checks out to Carolinas Region, PCA). Thanks to Porsche of Greensboro for providing the coffee and pastries at the start of the drive.

I’ll send out info once it is finalized.

At the meeting, I advised that am resigning from my position as Triad Area PCA Area Director, effective December 31st, 2026. Sarah and I are truly grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role and contribute to PCA. During my time as Area Director, I have valued the relationships built, the experiences gained, and the meaningful work we have accomplished together. We appreciate the support throughout my tenure.

PCA Carolina’s Region President, Jim Hess and I are looking for volunteers to take over this role. Please reach out to Jim or myself if you have interest in this role. I am happy to assist in any way possible to ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you again for the opportunity to serve.
